In the past four weeks, I’ve replaced a broken water heater, a broken AC coil, and worn out tires on two cars.
Things age, wear out, and break down.
I turn 50 this weekend.
Boys supposedly stop developing at 18, so despite leading an active life, I’ve been slowly wearing down for 32 years. What will break down first? Will I be able to fix or replace it?
I’ll find out soon enough.
In the meantime, I’m heading to the beach with my family. There’s more marshmallow in my beard than years ago, but the scene remains the same:
me buried neck-deep in hot sand, eyes closed facing the sun, as my wife and kids sculpt a new body for me, bodybuilder or mermaid, and their laughter brings a smile to my face, just as an ocean wave washes over me, the cold Atlantic where my father’s ashes are buried, soaking through the sand to soothe my burning skin.
Talking Logistics will be on hiatus next week for our summer break. If you miss us, you can watch some of our past episodes until we come back on August 11. Now, here’s the supply chain and logistics news that caught my attention this week:
Have a happy week! See you on August 11!
